About Us

Pat Conroy
Scott Turow at the 2007 Book Fest

The Southern Kentucky Book Fest is the state's largest literary event and is presented by WKU Libraries, Bowling Green Public Library, and Barnes and Noble Booksellers. Held annually during National Library Week, the Book Fest draws thousands of readers of all ages who welcome the occasion to meet their favorite authors.

The 2008 SOKY Book Fest will be our 10th, and we will be having several special anniversary celebrations. The event is a fundraiser for the promotion of literacy in our community. The Book Fest was recently named one of Kentucky's Top 10 Events and attracts people from several surrounding states.

The 2007 Book Fest hosted authors representing all genres. Authors who have appeared here in the past include: Pat Conroy, Scott Turow, Rick Bragg, Ann B. Ross, Janette Oke, Chuck Barris, Floyd Cooper, Cassandra King, Sue Grafton, Sharon Creech, David Buldacci, Avi, Marsha Mason, Homer Hickam, Karen Robards, David Halberstam, John Carpenter, LeVar Burton, R. L. Stine, and Dick Schaap.
